Why Keep a Shiva Nag Murti at Home?

Lord Shiva wearing the serpent Vasuki is one of the most powerful images in Hindu iconography. The Nag represents far more than decoration — in the Samudra Manthan, Vasuki served as the churning rope for the cosmic ocean. When the deadly Halahala poison emerged, Shiva consumed it to save creation, turning his throat blue — earning the name Neelakantha. Vasuki, moved by Shiva's sacrifice, chose to remain coiled around Mahadev for eternity as a mark of devotion and guardianship.

Protection from Negativity

Shiva is Mahakal, the destroyer of evil. The serpent Vasuki adds a second layer of protection — in Hindu belief, the Nag guards against negative energies, enemies, and Kaal Sarp dosha. Together, Shiva and Vasuki form the ultimate shield for your home.

Kundalini & Spiritual Awakening

In yogic tradition, the serpent represents kundalini — the primal cosmic force dormant at the base of the spine. Shiva wearing Vasuki symbolises complete mastery of this energy. Meditating before this murti is believed to inspire spiritual growth and inner awakening.

Family Harmony & Peace

Shiva and Parvati together symbolise the ideal family. Placing Mahadev in the home mandir invites harmony, strengthens family bonds, and brings a sense of calm to the household — especially during times of stress or transition.

Vastu Harmony & Positive Energy

According to Vastu Shastra, a Shiva murti in the northeast corner (Ishaan Kon) of the pooja room purifies the home's energy field. The Nag's presence amplifies this — serpents in Vastu are considered guardians of the earth's energy lines.

Worship & Vastu Guide

1

Placement (Vastu)

Place in the north-east corner of your pooja room, on a clean elevated shelf. The murti should face south or east. Avoid placing directly on the floor.

2

Daily Offering

Light a diya and dhoop/agarbatti during morning and evening aarti. Offer bilva leaves and water near the dome (pour water on a separate Shivling, not this murti directly).

3

Chant the Mantra

Recite Om Namah Shivaya 108 times daily. On Shravan Somwar (Mondays in Shravan month), the chanting is believed to carry special potency.

4

Festival Worship

During Maha Shivratri and Nag Panchami, decorate the area with fresh flowers, bilva garlands, and lights. Nag Panchami (Shravana month) is especially powerful for this Shiva-Nag form.

Sacred Mantra:

ॐ नमः शिवाय

The five-syllable mantra — chant daily for Shiva's blessings

The Sacred Bond of Shiva & Vasuki

According to Hindu scriptures, the Samudra Manthan — the churning of the cosmic milk ocean — was one of the defining events in creation. The Devas and Asuras used Mount Mandara as the churning rod and Vasuki, the king of serpents, as the rope. As the churning intensified, the immense friction caused Vasuki to spew forth Halahala — a poison so deadly it threatened to annihilate all three worlds. With no other recourse, the gods turned to Shiva.

Without hesitation, Mahadev consumed the entire poison, holding it in his throat through his yogic power. The toxin turned his throat blue, giving him the epithet Neelakantha — the blue-throated one. To cool the burning poison, sages poured the waters of the Ganga over him — a tradition that lives on today in the Shravan month rituals, when devotees offer Gangajal to Shivalingas across India.

Vasuki, witnessing Shiva's selfless sacrifice, was so moved that he chose to remain with Mahadev for eternity — coiling around his neck as an ornament and guardian. This is why every depiction of Shiva with a serpent carries such deep meaning: it represents sacrifice, devotion, the mastery of death and poison, and the eternal bond between protector and the protected. In this murti, that sacred bond is captured in 999 fine silver for your home.

Perfect Occasions to Gift or Buy

A silver Shiva Nag Murti is one of the most meaningful gifts — a blessing of protection that lasts generations

Nag Panchami

The festival dedicated to serpent worship, celebrated on the 5th day of Shravana's bright fortnight. A Shiva-Nag murti is the most fitting centrepiece — honouring Vasuki, the eternal companion of Mahadev.

Maha Shivratri & Shravan

The great night of Shiva and the holy month of Shravan are the most sacred times for Shiva devotion. Devotees often begin with a new murti to deepen their worship practice.

Griha Pravesh

A Shiva Nag murti at a housewarming brings divine protection and purifies the new home. Shiva as Mahakal guards against negativity; the Nag protects the earth's energy lines.

Corporate & Personal Gifting

A silver Shiva bust in a glass dome makes a sophisticated and deeply meaningful gift — for weddings, anniversaries, new business openings, or any occasion where you wish to convey protection and blessings.

Craftsmanship & Quality

Hand-Finished Silver Detailing

Each murti is individually hand-cast and finished by skilled artisans. Notice the fine scrollwork on the pedestal, the cobra's hood ridges, the jata mukut texturing, and the expression on Mahadev's face — no two pieces are identical.

999 Silver with BIS Hallmark

Crafted from 99.9% pure silver — the highest purity grade available — and certified with the official BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) hallmark. The bright polished finish is achieved by hand, giving the murti its luminous white sheen.

Crystal-Clear Glass Dome

The borosilicate glass dome keeps the murti dust-free and prevents tarnishing from moisture and air exposure. Full visibility from all angles — the dome is your first line of defence against environmental damage.

Ornate Scrollwork Base

The decorative silver pedestal beneath the bust features hand-chased scrollwork and filigree patterns. The sturdy dark polished base provides stability and adds a refined, display-ready elegance.

Care Instructions

Silver Care

If the silver ever tarnishes, gently buff with a soft silver polishing cloth. Avoid water, chemicals, or abrasive cleaners on the murti. For stubborn tarnish, use plain white toothpaste on a damp cloth with gentle circular motions, rinse and dry immediately.

Glass Dome Care

Wipe the dome exterior with a soft, lint-free cloth monthly. For stubborn dust, lightly dampen with distilled water. Keep the dome in place — it is your primary protection against tarnishing and dust accumulation.

Storage & Placement

Keep in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight and high-humidity areas. The glass dome provides excellent protection, but avoid placing near open windows or in rooms with excessive incense smoke buildup.
