Diwali gifts in silver and gold, sorted by who it is for: family, office and return gifts

A Diwali gift starts with one question: who is it for? The wife on Padwa, the brother on Bhaubeej, the parents on Dhanteras, the team before the office closes, the friend whose shop reopens on Labh Pancham. Pick the person below, tell us roughly how much, and we send photos with weights and the day's rate. Office gifts have their own tab, because a gift for forty people has different rules from a gift for one.
Family
One piece that is worn or kept, by weight.
Office
₹5,000 per employee per year is the tax line.
Return gifts
Small silver, packed in numbers, the count sets the budget.
Who is it for?
For
Diwali Padwa, Monday 9 November: the husband's gift after the aukshan. Padwa is a half muhurat of the sade teen, so gold bought that morning needs no other timing.

A 24K gold coin, 1 g to 10 g
Sealed in the refinery card, holds its value, easy to add to next year.

Which gifts hold value, and which are for the joy of it
Priced by weight: the gift is also savings
- Gold coins, sealed in the refinery card, 1 g upward.
- Lakshmi Ganesh silver bars, 50 g and 100 g, pure silver in a sealed card.
- Silver katoris, diyas, panchpatra, kadas: 925 or 999 silver, weighed in front of you.
These come back to a counter one day at the metal's rate. The selling old gold page shows why weight matters more than packaging.
Priced as an object: the gift is the gift
- Pooja petis, from the Swaminarayan and Jain designs to Lakshmi Kuber.
- Gold-foil deity frames with a certificate and a box.
- Yantra pyramids, the Mickey Mouse plate, decorative thalis.
Good gifts, often the ones people remember. They are not savings, and that is fine as long as you know it.

Frequently asked questions
What silver gift can I get under ₹1,000?
At this season's silver price, ₹1,000 buys two to three grams of silver before making, so that is a small coin, not a katori. Tell us the number on WhatsApp and we show you what actually fits, including the decorative pieces that are not priced by weight.
Silver coin or silver bar: which is the better gift?
Same silver, different shape. Coins come small, a few grams each, and suit a long list of people. The Lakshmi Ganesh bars come in 50 g and 100 g in a sealed refinery card and suit a parent, a boss or a new bahu. Both are sold by weight at the day's rate plus a small premium.
Are Diwali gifts from an employer taxable?
Gifts from an employer up to ₹5,000 in a financial year are tax-free for the employee, under the income tax rules on employer gifts (Rule 3(7)(iv)). If the year's total goes above that, the whole amount is taxed as salary. Cash gifts are always taxable. Pick the coin or bar weight with that line in mind.
How early should an office order be placed?
Three to four weeks before Dhanteras for 25 pieces or more, so the weights are set aside before the rush. Sealed coins and bars come from the refinery in fixed weights. A mixed order of petis and frames needs the count per design.
Do the gifts come with a bill and a certificate?
Coins and bars come sealed in the refinery's card with the weight and purity printed on it, and a bill that shows weight, rate, premium and GST on separate lines. Frames come with the maker's certificate and a gift box. Silver katoris and diyas are billed by weight.
